1) Talked to Alex Tyler about news articles. He told me to write some opinion pieces, but to have the article ideas cleared first. He also suggested I write about “press favoritism of Obama” and “the failure of ping pong club”.

2) Wrote “press favoritism of Obama”. going to talk to Connor Goldstein tmrw about “ping pong” club.

Since the Hatchet is a newspaper, I aimed to find a infographic related to the newspaper industry. I found this:

…from the NY Times. The original article was called, “As Cities Go From Two Papers to One, Talk of Zero”.

The article talked about the possibility of a major city having no major print publication. I believe this could be implemented into the Hatchet, in an article possibly about the dangers of not supporting your local newspapers, and why the Internet cannot be the only source for news. This way, we could convince current print publication readers to continue to so.

Junior Tyler Rowe's Fish Toga raised eyebrows on the first day of Spirit Week

In this photo, I used multiple photo composition techniques; mainly close-up detail, but also photo quality control by having him face the light for better exposure. There is also a creative angle, the subject is facing away from me and is holding a ukelele, which makes the photo more interesting.

This photo, taken in portrait format, utilizes close-up detail of the subject, while also having photo quality control by making sure the classroom forms the background for this photo, to give this photo a clear setting to match the caption.

The photo on display here utilizes a creative angle, the subject is in clear focus, and it is close-up enough to get a good amount of detail to make it obvious it is a Freshman celebrating Spirit Week on Sports Day.

Photo composition techniques used: close-up detail, the rule of thirds [bottom right corner, girl on left, girl at upper right], and a creative angle.

In this photo I used close-up detail of the subject, also I made sure the focus was on the subject, and the background was not the emphasis of the photo.

Kaylee Miu chows down after a big first day of Spirit Week

Taken on 11/2; I used depth of field as well as a creative angle by placing the subject in the right hand of the photo, and the rule of thirds is employed with with the subject and two people in the background.

ASB President Seth Neumann went full out for the Seniors on Army Day

This photo uses a portrait composition technique, as well as peak of emotion as seen by the excited face of the subject captured in the close-up detail.

Miss DeWitt plays the role of a conscientious objector on the first day of Spirit Week

I used a portrait format, with close-up detail to emphasize the subject’s outfit as it is the main attraction of the photo.
